Emma is noticing more and more of the world around her, including her toys! Her two current favorites are a rattle from her cousin Pia and a rubber giraffe from her friends in California, Jen, Brent and Leif. Here is a picture of Emma hanging out with Sophie the giraffe, which she loves to lick.

Lights, Camera, SMILES!
Finally, after some annoying technological issues the smiles are here! More to come soon since we're getting more smiles (and giggles) every day.
We may not be sleeping much, and Emma sure does have a good set of lungs, but now she is rewarding us with SMILES! They are so sweet and each one makes us happy and grateful. Here are some pictures to enjoy. Not all have smiles, but all are cute :)

Sixth Week Peak
So the books say that fussiness peaks at about 6 weeks. Well, we hit 6 weeks tomorrow and let me tell you, we are in fussy town that's for sure! Hopefully after the peak things will calm down... fingers crossed... In the meantime, here are some cute pictures. Enjoy and be thankful that some of them don't come with an audio clip!
One of my all time favorite photos, taken today - my cousin Ari's fabulous fiance Becky - who comes from a family of 7 - showing us novices how to soothe a bawling baby. Apparently it's so easy she has a free hand for a beer.
Cute picture of a soon to be pissed off baby. She hates getting changed!
Looks like she's drunk on milk, but really she was drunk from being carried by her daddy. This picture was taken after a long walk in our favorite Ergo carrier. Our not so secret weapon against crying jags.
Emma and her daddy on one of our first outings! We went to Ft. Greene Park with some new friends from our childbirth class. The little boy baby in the photo was born the day after Em. Both babies were in a rush to get out of the womb. He was 4 weeks early. His mama and I went for cupcakes the Friday before the babies were born and so we think there might have been something more than sugar in the batter.
I like to call this one, "Calm Before the Storm" the storm being our sweet little angel baby. She sure has a set of lungs on her!

Almost 5 weeks
Tomorrow is Emma Sosie's 5 week birthday and we're celebrating by... sleeping in! Hopefully I won't give myself a kaynahorah (see April 1st post for definition) by writing this, but last night Emma slept in her crib for two whole 2 hour shots and then the three of us took a long morning nap in the twin bed (it was a tight squeeze, but luckily Emma is on the small side) in the nursery. Though I didn't sleep as soundly as Emma and her daddy, it sure was sweet being all cozy together.
Here are some recent pictures of our happy little family.
The three of us enjoying some computer time. Probably just looking at pictures of our cute nugget!
Check out Emma at her first breakfast outing over Memorial Day weekend. Yes, she slept through it, but that's a good thing.
We call this "nakies time" for obvious reasons. It gives Emma some time to air out, her well, you know. Naked parts. Look at those big blue eyes.
Yea, she found her thumb!
Proof that she has a crib - AND - she sleeps in it! (sometimes)
Post sponge bath cuteness.
Her daddy was super excited to put her in this sweet blue dress after 5 weeks of mostly wearing sleeper pajamas!
I took this with my phone last week and I can'y stop looking at it :)
