To tide you over

It's been over a month since the last post and I blame it on sweet little Em who keeps us super busy! She is changing every day and we have SO many new beautiful pictures of her, but for now, here is a small sampling to tide you over until I post the pictures of our country trip to New Paltz...

The Good Life

Emma is now 4 and 1/2 months old and she is growing like crazy. Last week she measured 26 and a quarter inches long and weighed 15.3 pounds! No wonder my arms ache from carrying her around :) Not that I mind, she's such a little monkey.

So much changes with her every day... she uses her hands all the time - mainly putting them in her mouth, but also grabbing and pinching and holding things, including her parents which is very cute except for her pinches which rival a lobster's. Now she makes these adorable sweet noises that sound like a baby bird. Little squeaks and coos. It's like she is experimenting with her newly discovered vocal chords. She giggles too and coughs at us just for fun.

Other new things:

She loves the bath! Still taking it very seriously, but now she's figured out how to splash which makes for a very fun and wet experience for all.

She loves looking in the mirror. Either she recognizes herself or likes the baby she sees smiling back at her. Either way it's super cute.

Every day we love her more (which doesn't seem possible!)

Here are some pictures from the last few weeks. Enjoy!

Baby Gang is Back!

Last week the baby gang met again, and you can see the changes in their demeanors and personalities by the amount of movement in these pictures! None of them could sit still. Their arms were waving, heads bobbing, and bodies colliding - so fun to watch. We (the mamas) couldn't stop smiling and laughing at all their cute antics.

Emma, always the ham, starting smiling immediately when the cameras came out. I love her expressive sweet little face! (My apologies to Lucinda who was on the opposite end of the couch who often got eclipsed by the cushions and/or the other flailing babies.)

Wiggle Worm and friends

Emma has discovered her hands, yippee! Now she sucks on them (she can put her entire fist in her mouth) and plays with stuff. We are enjoying this new stage of development and encouraging it by piling as many toys on top of her as she'll allow. She seems to enjoy our silly games. Take a look at her hanging out with her most recent favorite toy, Wiggle Worm, and a few funny pictures of her in the bath. Notice how serious she looks, as if she is just humoring us with this whole getting clean thing. Some babies laugh it up in the tub, our kid eyes us suspiciously.

By the way, she just had her 3 month doctor's appointment and she now weighs 14 pounds (!!) and she grew an inch since last month making her a lanky 25 inches. Our baby is on the top of the charts! (yes, I have become one of those bragging mamas, but how can I help it? look at her!)

Third Generation of pals

The fathers were college roommates, both had daughters, and now, the daughters had babies. Introducing the third generation! Emma and Matthew, born just two weeks apart. This is their first official hang out.

"This dress will really impress my new friend Matthew."

"Yea, this is fun!"

"Hmmm, he's getting a little close."

"Watch it buddy!"

"He's pretty cute, but I can't understand a word he's saying. All his baby talk is in French!"

Here is Emma and Matthew's feature debut. Cute little Matthew can't stop talking and Emma can't stop moving.

Big Girl

Our little Emma is growing so much and so fast! She was over 12 pounds at her 2 month doctor's appointment and 24 inches - a huge growth spurt. Even the doctor was impressed by her length. She is in the 95th percentile of height, which Steven likes to describe as Emma being longer than 95 babies out of a 100 :) Here are some shots during the last week or so, enjoy!

Steven took this cuddly shot. There's nothing better than a sleeping baby.

Tummy time can be fun time... at least for a few minutes. Check out Emma's freshly washed hair - it's curly when wet! And so light and frothy. She is a love muffin. Yes, we're biased, but seriously, she is insanely adorable, right?

Ah, daddy love. They are such a cute pair.

Emma in her crib! The "baby crack" aka her super crazy colorful mobile is working its mobile magic.

Emma and her pal Bruno stretching out on the couch. They are pretty oblivious of each other, but one of these days they'll realize other babies exist.
